Synergies with the IMAGINE Project

The MACCIMO project has established strong synergies with the European project IMAGINE (https://www.embl.org/about/info/imagine/). As part of this collaboration, marine sponge samples have been sent to EMBL Hamburg for advanced imaging using phase-contrast high-throughput X-ray tomography (HiTT) at the P14 beamline (DESY).
This cutting-edge technique enables the high-resolution visualisation of morphological structures, such as sclerites, providing new insights into how climate change affects sponge morphology.
