First results on microbial communities presented in international conference
The international conference of MIKROBIOKOSMOS-CEESME took place in Thessaloniki this year. MACCIMO participated with a poster showcasing our results on microbial communities associated with sponges during our climate-change experiment. Bekir Kasli, who has been doing a remote internship with WP6 leader Anastasia Gioti, has put together in a nice poster the first results of bioinformatic and statistical analyses of bacterial symbionts by Anastasia and collaborator Carmen Rizzo, as well as a draft pipeline he has been developing for the analysis of fungal community Nanopore data. The conference was a nice opportunity for Bekir, currently based in Germany, to meet fellow researchers from HCMR and abroad, and get some useful advise on his career through the mentorship session.
